Universal Pictures just released the latest trailer of "The Despicable Me" spin-off, "Minions", set to hit UK theaters on June 26 and July 10 in the U.S.
The "Minions" trailer begins on a boat in the middle of the sea, and a voice over explains how they came from as well as their quest for their whole existence. Rewinding in the past as far as the dinosaur era, despite of their differences the Minions share the same goal: to find the "biggest, baddest villain to serve."
The clip showed that the Minions once served a huge tyrannosaurus rex dinosaur, a barbaric primitive man, a medieval king, an emperor (like The Emperor Napoléon Bonaparte), and a blood-sucking vampire. But all these masters died due to the accidental and carefree attitude of the Minions their master dinosaur killed in a volcano because one Minion accidentally pushed a stone; the primitive man eaten by a bear because one Minion suggested using a fly swatter as a weapon of choice; the king stabbed by a thrown sword due to the Minions not cleaning the floor on the water fast; the emperor hit by a cannon as one Minion rides on a muzzle; and the vampire dying due to the sun's rays because of a surprise 357th birthday by all Minions, which why it wasn't "easy for these guys," says the narrator in "Minions" trailer.
Nevertheless, the Minions continued to look for the "biggest, baddest villain to serve," and finally met the wicked Scarlet Overkill. This happened 42 years B.G. (Before Gru). In this timeline, Scarlet Overkill was the most popular and the meanest villain. The Minions were able to meet her through a show, but the purpose of it was to get new recruits.
Stealing is one of Scarlet Overkill's "evil" crimes, and her ultimate aim: to take Queen Elizabeth's crown. Now with a new master to serve, the Minions are on an evil mission to sneak and get the coveted crown, but it won't be that easy. They will have to encounter an old elite guard, disguise as a female tourist, hijack a royal chariot in the middle of a parade, and address thousands of people by pretending as a royal king/queen.
