With success of over $403M of the 2012 science fiction film "Prometheus" in the global market, 20th Century Fox didn't much as whine to greenlight the second film, and as the scheduled released date is nearing, reports claim that the plot of the second installment will terminate Noomi Rapace's character Elizabeth Shaw and will be replaced with a few female lead. And as to make the pieces fit together, the sequel was also allegedly dubbed as "Prometheus 2: Hell on Earth."
It was reported previously that the script of the second "Prometheus" film has been done already, and shooting will probably start later this year. And while major details are kept under shawls by director Ridley Scott, it looks like online portals and discussions have beaten him to it. To break it down one by one, let's start first with the cast.
Apparently, Michael Fassbender (droid David) and Noomi Rapace (Elizabeth Shaw) will be reprising their respective roles in the sequel. And while the script is probably locked up in a drawer by the production, The Telegraph has already reported that Dr. Shaw will lose her life and will be replaced by another female lead in the film. So, what's that all about? The production has a grudge on Noomi Rapace? Ridiculous. There have been no further reports though on who might be playing this new character.
Now let's jump to the plot and the rumored title. Reports claim that "Prometheus 2: Hell on Earth" will be the official title because of the setting, which is to be based on earth. Likewise, rumor has it that the plot will focus on finding a new home planet for "The Engineers." As a brief recollection, these species are the ones who created the human race, according to the first film. These beings will decide that it's time to end the humanity. Rumor also has it that the lead characters will later discover that "The Engineers" are commanded by a higher power.
These rumors are actually puzzling because some reports claim that there will be no Xenomorphs in the sequel while other news portals claim that there will be. But for what it's worth, we'll stick to the rumor that they will be seen, but not in their original forms. Moreover, reports also say that there will be two new aliens to be featured in the upcoming film that share similarities with the old Xenomorphs, but are different, anyway. They will be stronger and scarier species, according to a news portal.
While these rumors are very promising, just remember that they hold no such truth until confirmed. No word from director Ridley Scott or 20th Century Fox execs has been revealed. But one thing may be deemed justifiable. According to IMDb's profile for the film, the release date is scheduled on March 4, 2016. That's actually less than a year from now.
