‘Planet Of The Apes’ 3 Update: Next Installment Title Revealed as ‘War of the Planet of the Apes’; Andy Serkis To Return As Caesar

By

It has been implied at the conclusion of the science fiction film "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" that war is coming, and it looks like it holds truth for the sequel as a report has speculated this week that the next movie of the saga will be entitled "War of the Planet of the Apes." In addition, it was also reported that Andy Serkis will return in the lead role of Caesar, the ape leader.

It was already established that the second film "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" in the rebooted trilogy "Planet of the Apes" grossed over $700 million worldwide and has been critically successful as well. No wonder Fox has green-lit the third sequel. And now that fans and critics are excited, the third film in the trilogy has been speculated to be entitled "War of the Planet of the Apes," reports Collider.

But why so? To back that up, it was shown in the ending of "Dawn" that Caesar (Andy Serkis) said "War has ... already begun. Ape started war. And human ... Human will not forgive." That must be something the sources from Collider have mulled over. Anyway, director Matt Reeves initially wanted to instigate a war in the ending of "Dawn," but came up with an alternative finale eventually.

Refreshingly, the wrap-up of "Dawn" showed ape leader Caesar and human leader Malcolm (Jason Clarke) having an emotional parting. It made a peaceful closure for fans and critics. However, it was not the original ending and director Matt Reeves had to revise the scenes to contemplate what will be the story of the next film, and of course, not to give much. The original one is when a large ship was seen headed underneath the bridge between San Francisco and the apes' home in the forest. As a testament, the scene was also featured in the film's final trailer.

"We actually did have an ending that went one step further, and I realized late in the game, 'Wait a minute. I don't want us to be boxed in in this way ...'" the director told Collider previously. Moreover, it was reported by Hypable that Andy Serkis will reprise his role as Caesar. However, no further announcements have been released on the actors playing in the film.

So there. Do you think "War of the Planet of the Apes" is the perfect title for the next movie? Or do you have something in mind? Let us know in the comments section and don't forget to mark your calendars as "War" will hit theaters on July 14, 2017!
