‘X-Men’ Spin-Off ‘The New Mutants’ Announced by Fox; ‘The Fault in Our Stars’ Director Josh Boone Hired to Helm

While the much anticipated "X-Men: Apocalypse" hasn't even been released until next year, Fox, which gave birth to favorite "X-Men" heroes on the big screen, has cooked up another superhero film for fans as it announced the franchise's new spinoff entitled "The New Mutants" to be presided by "The Fault In Our Stars" director Josh Boone. The director, along with Fox's writers, will also pen the script.

Director Josh Boone became a hot director after the success of last year's teen drama "The Fault In Our Stars," which was based on the young adult novel with the same title by John Green. After with only a $12 million budget that turned into a massive $307 million worldwide, Fox signed Boone to direct the "X-Men" spin-off without a further ado, Deadline reports. The director was also hired to author the script alongside Knate Gwaltney. The film will be produced by Lauren Shuler Donner and Simon Kinberg.

And as to welcome the new director, Kinberg has some two cents. "We're so excited to explore this new part of the X-Men universe. And so excited to do it with Josh, who is uniquely suited to tell this story about young characters," the famed producer exclaimed.

The "X-Men" spin-off "The New Mutant," which was created by Chris Claremont and Bob McLeod in 1992, focused on a teenage group of mutants at Charles Xavier's academy named: Sunspot, Blink, Mirage, Wolfsbane, Karma, Cannonball, and Warpath. Sunspot (Adan Canto), Blink (Fan Bingbing), and Warpath (Booboo Stewart) are nothing new as they have been featured in the "X-Men: Days of Future Past" already.

Moreover, aside from "The New Mutants," Josh Boone was also reported to co-direct the "Spider-Man" reboot slated to release in 2017. His next project would be the "The Vampire Chronicles," which was based on the Anne Rice novels. Meanwhile, "The New Mutants" would belong among the roster of other "X-Men" films to be released by Fox next year including "Deadpool," which is starred by Ryan Reynolds, and also the "X-Men: Apocalypse." The third and final "Wolverine" movie is also on board alongside with Channing Tatum's "Gambit," which begins its production later this year.

Very well. If you have already seen "The Fault In Our Stars" then maybe, you will have an idea on how Josh Boone peps up young characters. So, are you excited for this new "X-Men" film? Do you think Boone will be a good director? Share us your comments below.
