Batman Arkham Knight will be hitting stores in a few more weeks. Until then, Rocksteady has been generous enough with the title by giving fans something to hold on to, being an in-action footage of a new mode in gameplay.
This pertains to "Dual Play" which is a character-swapping mode that enables players to fight against his enemies using Batman's teammates. DigitalTrends goes through the video where Batman joins forces with Nightwing to bring down Penguin and his troops. In the scene, Batman plays a surprise attack by coming from the ceiling.
Nightwing is controlled by artificial intelligence, while the player handles Batman in a typical combat setting versus Penguin. The treat comes when a quick button becomes available to trade places between Batman and Nightwing. When the feature is enabled, Batman will be controlled by an AI, while the player will be using Nightwing. Moreover, the flow of the fight will not be interrupted as the combo meter is continued even with switching characters.
This can pave way for strategizing high combos as explained by Tim Hanagan, the game's AI programmer. If the combo starts with Batman, and another enemy is proximal to Nightwing, switching will keep the combo alive. He also adds, "If you've got your 'special' charged up, you can instantly use your super-combo takedown on that thug."
Players will surely enjoy this new feature from Batman: Arkham Knight since Nightwing's fighting style is very distinct from the main character. It should also be noted that more players are likely to join Dual Play as the teaser "All Who Follow You" featured Catwoman and Robin.
When it comes to going mad for trophies, GamesRadar reports about the 440 of them which will be in Arkham City. The developer's creative director, Sefton Hill, made a statement on Twitter. It goes, "Clue: Riddler has focused on quality over quantity. These are his most devious and cunning brain teasers ever."
Batman Arkham Knight will be released for PC, PS4, and Xbox One on June 23. This will be the finale for Rocksteady's series, which started with Batman: Arkham Asylum in 2009.
