Sony Xperia fans had high hopes for the flagship phone Z4's chances of easily overthrowing Samsung S6, LG G4 and other industry leaders. It appears that Z4 rumored features may no be as good as everyone hopes it to be and Sony could be focusing on a different flagship phone - Xperia P2.
Sources say that Xperia Z4 specs highlights a 20.7 MP rear camera - a far better one than Samsung S6 and G4. It has a lower resoluion wih 424 ppi, and IPS LCD display on a 70.88% screen to body ratio. Z4 reportedly will have a 4K video shot and 5.1 MP front camera. Its processor would be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 and a 64-bit octacore ARM Cortex-A57 and ARM Cortex-A53 clocking at 2000 MHz. Its internal storge of 32 GB is expandable up to 128 GB. Sources also listed an impressive battery life of 2930 mAh. These features are great but seems to lack some flavor to its story compared to other mobile flagship. The underwhelming release of Z3 and currenly rumored Z4 brought speculations that Sony might be diverting is efforts to a different flagship model.
Reports say that Sony Xperia P2 could be the up and runnning flagship Sony is currently working on. It will reportedly have the same screen as the Z4 but with very slim bezzels that makes it look smaller and more compact. Although the leaked images show a bit thicker, its compensates with almost twice as better battery of 4,240mAh. Its camera is expected to have a 1/2.3" Exmor RS sensor but with a lower 12 MP rear cam resolution, 5.1 MP front camera, Sony G OSS lens, f/2.0 aperture on a 25 mm lens and 4K video recording. Sources say that it will have the same Z4 Snapdragon chipset and same memory and storage capacity. Although Xperia P2 rumors are making its rounds, Xperia enthusiats are still looking forward to the Z4 release.
Sony Xperia Z4 release date could be around the corner and the new Sony smartphone's preview could happen by 26th of May according to sources.
Despite official reports on when the Sony Xperia Z4 will be available, the leakes that proliferated online was more than enough to create hype among avid followers of this phone series. If Sony decides to move forward with Sony Xperia P2 as its flagship phone for this year, it will offer a competitive edge againts its contemporaries like Samsung and LG.
