The latest patch for Battlefield 4, set for release later this month, is set to include new guns, weapon balancing, Gun Master mode, free night and community maps, and some bug fixes.
EA Digital Illusions CE (DICE) is set to introduce new weapons. These guns include a new assault rifle with unique burst gameplay, a new carbine with built-in vertical grip, a new personal defense weapon with built-in silencer, a new "sniper" sidearm that uses magnum rounds, and a new magazine-fed light machine gun. While the latest update did not specify the names, previous reports state they are going to be the following: N-94 assault rifle, Groza-1 assault rifle, Groza-2 assault rifle, L86A1 assault rifle, and the Mare's Leg, aka Saddle Gun Sniper (compact rifle/pistol).
With regards to the weapon balancing, every gun in Battlefield 4 has been re-checked by DICE, altering the damage, falloff and suppression.
Meanwhile, the Gun Master mode, which became popular in Battlefield 3, makes its comeback. It is played like a team deathmatch, where weapons are chosen randomly. The Gun Master mode has five presets (standard, classic, pistol, DLC, and troll) with 18 different weapons each.
The night maps are night versions of existing maps such as Siege of Shanghai, Zavod 311, and Golmud Railway. A new community map as well as a map remake from a previous Battlefield game is also set to be released with the update.
Lastly, we set out to significantly improve client stability on all platforms and have applied fixes for the most frequently occurring crashes on each," live producer David Sirland said.
Sirland also mentioned they used the Battlefield 4 Community Test Environment to confirm fixes and focused on non-graphics driver related issues like game client and server crashes.
"We urge all players to update their graphics driver to the latest stable versions, keeping overclocking to a minimum for the best results with Spring Patch. For details on what exactly has been improved in the Spring Patch, we'll publish the full patch notes closer to release," he added.
All future patches, including this upcoming one, for Battlefield 4 will be available to every player for free.
