Two years away from release date and details about the latest Spider-Man reboot is slowly taking place. After finalizing the search for the new Peter Parker, Marvel and Sony are now focusing their energies on the film's baddies and rumors been circulating that Academy Award winner Matthew McConaughey is being eyed for the role of Norman Osborn.
It has already been confirmed that the next Spider-Man movie to be released is a complete reboot, meaning all actors are to be replaced as Sony and Marvel are looking to present a younger Peter Parker and focus the story on his teenage years. The past few months after announcement of the reboot was spent busily looking for young actors to play Parker and reports are saying that producers have already finalized their choices and are looking at Asa Butterfield to play the Wall-Crawler.
Now that production seems to be happy with their lead actor, it's time to focus on the equally important villains. As one of the most important villains in Peter Parker's life, there is special interest on who will play Norman Osborn/Green Goblin. We all know the impact villains have in superhero movies (think Heath Ledger's Joker, of Tom Hiddleton's Loki), so finding the perfect actor to play Norman Osborn is crucial.
As the focus switches to the villain role, there have been reports that producers of the latest Spider-Man reboot are eyeing Oscar winner Matthew McConaughey to put his brand of villainy to the role of Norman Osborn. As the plot of the film will center on a teenaged Parker, we can expect a Norman Osborn that will be a bit younger and might see more action than what we saw in the previous Spidey movies before, so it seems that McConaughey can definitely pull off the role.
This is not yet confirmed so better take this news with a grain of salt. Both Marvel and Sony did not confirm or deny the rumors, though. The Spider-Man reboot is set to be released by July 28, 2017.
