Ariel Winter has plans for her future that doesn't concern the show business. Winter says she is interested to enter law school a year after the graduation of her "Modern Family" character, Alex Dunphy. The teen star says she definitely has plans for her future outside acting especially if it soon dries up.
The 17-year-old TV star said she already visited various schools in California in preparation for her collegiate life. She also plans on touring in East Coast schools to broaden her options.
In an interview, Ariel Winter said that she has always been interested in business and law school since her future looks more stable with those careers than acting.
"I would love to continue acting, but it's definitely important to go and do something else," Ariel said. "You never know if something's not going to work out, if one day acting is like, 'No, we don't like you anymore!'"
Ariel Winter plays Alex Dunphy in "Modern Family" for six years already. The ABC sitcom will enter its seventh season and will see Alex, the most genius in the Dunphy household, entering college. One of the highlights of the show's sixth season finale is Alex's graduation, which Winter finds interesting.
Ariel will also be graduating next year, a year after Alex, and portraying her character somehow excites the actress as it is parallel to what's happening in her real life. If her law school plan pans out, she will join the ranks of Brooke Shields and Gerard Butler, who both successfully entered law school despite regardless of their busy schedules.
The "Modern Family" star has been recently emancipated from her allegedly abusive mother Chrisoula Workman. Julie Bowen, Winter's TV mom in the ABC sitcom expressed her happiness towards the news.
"I'm really proud of her. She's really become a very responsible young woman, and that was a very trying time," said Bowen in an interview.
Ariel Winter's future surely looks bright even without the showbiz spotlight. She plans to become a lawyer in the future and had just won her emancipation from an abusive mother. Winter will return in "Modern Family" season 7, where she plays the prodigy, Alex Dunphy.
