"Outlander" recently aired one of the most painful and heartbreaking scenes to ever come alive in the history of television. Series writer Ira Steven Behr admitted that writing for "Wentworth Prison" was the hardest and has remained stuck in her mind ever since.
"Outlander" Season 1 is nearing its finale and the Starz time traveller series recently showed what seems to be one of the most awful scenes on TV. Many fans commented on how painful it was to get through the episode without breaking into tears, but it seems like even the cast and crew of the series shared the same sentiments.
Series writer Ira Steven Behr wrote the latest episode of "Outlander" titled, "Wentworth Prison." Behr told The Hollywood Reporter that everyone on set had a hard time filming that heartbreaking scene, which left some cast members and crew with tears on their eyes.
The series writer admitted that it was easier to write the episode than it was to see it come to life on set. She also revealed that most of the staff kept asking her when this tragic scene would come to an end.
Sam Heughan, who was the center of that scene from the latest episode, had the hardest time dealing with the amount of pain that the episode held.
"He had to stay in this dark headspace, and there would be times when a scene would end and I would want to go over to him... and see the concentration and that sense of discomfort in his eyes and I would just veer away," Behr recounted.
Meanwhile, E! News revealed that fans must prepare themselves to "cry buckets," as the show is down to its last episode.
The outlet cited that the season 1 finale of "Outlander" will have "incredibly graphic scenes) as Jamie recounts his painful torture at the prison. The show will, however, end on a positive note, as Heughan previously hinted that Jamie will have a "big reveal" towards the end of the season, which greatly changes his entire life.
"Outlander" season 1 finale airs on May 30 on Starz.
