Latest details about Samsung's Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy Note Edge successor revealed some changes and improvements that the company made on the two high-end smartphones. Samsung CEO JK Shin also denied the rumored July release date of the device.
6 changes in Galaxy Note Edge 2
Previous rumors said that the Galaxy Note Edge 2 bore the codename Project Zen and was expected to feature 5.4-inch/5.5-inch Super AMOLED dual-edge curved display, hexa-core Snapdragon 808 processor, 16 GB of storage, 16 MP rear camera with OIS, 8 MP front camera, and an S Pen. However, for an unknown, but could be good, reason(s) Samsung made some changes of the device:
1. "Internally" changed the name of Project Zen to Project Zero 2 (SM-G928).
2. Removed its S Pen functionality, implying that it might be a bigger version of the Galaxy S6 Edge.
3. Upgraded the storage to 32 GB.
4. Reduced the front camera's MP to 5.
5. Clear View and S View case
6. An "interesting" accessory called Keyboard cover, with speculations that it could be a "detachable keyboard case."
Galaxy Note 5 might have 2K or 4K resolution
Samsung is also going to include the Clear View and S View case as well as the Keyboard Cover for the Galaxy Note 5 (SM-N920). The device retains its codename Project Noble and is going to compete with iPhone 6s Plus. It is also said that it "might" feature a 2K or 4K Super AMOLED flat display. Hopefully, Samsung would offer a resolution according to what fans need. Further, it is going to have an updated octa-core Exynos 7422 processor and an S Pen.
Earlier reports spread that the Galaxy Note 5 would be released earlier on July in order to gain an advantage over Apple's iPhone 6s. However, Samsung Electronics CEO JK Shin reportedly made a "flat out denial" of this hearsay. Shin did not give a hint of the specific release date, but it is expected that the Note 5 would be rolled out on the usual September timeline at the yearly IFA trade show.
The Samsung head also answered reports about the alleged disappointing sales of the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge as false and claimed that the S6 and S6 Edge is again going to be a "strong engine" in the company's profits.
