It's because it was recently announced that the lead actress Jennifer Love Hewitt will not be returning for Season 11. And, the show has no plan of killing her off because she may be returning for the Season 12 and it's not quite interesting to see the lead die and then rising back.
So, it is expected that 'Criminal Minds' Season 11 will focus heavily on other characters, and they are also planning to bring back familiar faces. Previous spoilers revealed that AJ Cook who portrays the role of JJ will be coming to Season 11. However, she will not be seen in the first episode or so because of schedule difficulties. It was reported that the actress behind JJ, like Hewitt, is expecting a child.
Thus, the writers will be taking time in emphasizing her maternity leave during the first episode or more. It is likely that JJ will be back in 'Criminal Minds' Season 11. And, it is not a good thing to replace two of the three main characters.
Another, the show has not confirmed the names of the guest stars that will appear in Season 11. But it was previously reported that Emily Prentiss (Paget Brewster) is likely to make a comeback in the coming season. Showrunner Erica Messer also expressed her happiness to the possibility and she thought that it might be a good time to bring her back.
