Old habits die hard; Samsung Galaxy Note 5 could break a long-held tradition this year. And the reason could be largely strategic.
It's no secret, this past four years, Samsung has been keen about keeping a pattern in its product launches for its Galaxy Note phablet devices. As most everybody in the Android universe knows, the Korean chaebol churns its newest iteration of flagship phablets every IFA tradeshow in Berlin - which incidentally happens September of each year. Without fail.
However, this year could mark the first time it will break such a tradition.
A recent report that came out from the WhoWires website details that the world's biggest smartphone maker from South Korea will have its Galaxy Note 5 phablet prototype ready by June. That should look earlier than expected. And for a reason.
Plus credit it to a much-reinvigorated production, the South Korean tech giant will soon be launching the Galaxy Note 5 by July. Not September as earlier reported.
Call it a preemptive strike. Said strategic move is aimed at stripping Apple of whatever advantage it can get from its purported September launching.
'Twas but last year that Apple's sales performance surge sky-high. Thanks to one product: iPhone.
This time around, Samsung wants to soften Apple's ultra-aggressive stance by deploying its flagship phablet early on. Though certainly, that could sound a little simplistic as marketing pundits would have a more complex explanation to put forward.
Also, June is a good month as that will enable Samsung to show the upcoming phablet to its distribution network, global telecom companies that would be its strategic partner in key markets.
Added to this, Samsung Pay service - a direct competitor with Apple Pay - will be also be introduced to the market together with the July launching of Samsung's next phablet iteration.
As for its most-awaited features, this time around the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 will be:
- 0.6mm thinner than its predecessor at 7.9mm
- Most likely a 5.89-inch display (Korean media)
- S-Pen stylus
- Abundant 4100mAh battery
Lastly, Samsung will deploy its top-of-the-line latest Exynos chip ditching the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 SoC microprocessor in the process. Now, with all these killer features factored in and with all the Android updates going on OTA (over the air), Samsung Galaxy Note 5 phablet should be awesome.
