'CSI' Season 16 was officially cancelled by CBS. But it will have its final act with a 2 hour movie to resolve all the cliffhangers therein. The series finale will premiere this fall, and the cast members are ready to bid farewell to the hit popular show, while Ted Danson will be moving to one of the show's spin-off, the 'CSI: Cyber'.

The show was once CBS' top-rated but those days are long gone and now it's time for the original 'CSI': Crime Scene Investigation to end. Although Season 16 is already cancelled, it will conclude with a 2 hour movie.

The two-hour movie ending will air on Sunday, September 27th. It will feature several cast members who have populated the series over its tenure, including of course, the original stars William Petersen and Marg Helgenberger.

Ted Danson, one of the series current cast members, will transfer to its latest spinoff "CSI: Cyber," which moves to 10 p.m. Sundays this fall, where he will work with Patricia Arquette.

The CEO of the network CBS Leslie Moonves said that the end of a run is "a natural evolution" of the hit TV show. She added that 'CSI' being a no. 1 TV series for six great years was more than enough, and it was a big deal.

Thanks to 'CSI' because it paved the way for the numerous of shows that linked to the same genre of science and crime fighting that we are enjoy watching today. Even CEO Moonves is proud of the show's success, as other shows were influenced by the "CSI procedurals." The existence of these TV series has also influenced many young viewers to pursue careers in forensics.
