With "X-Men: Apocalypse" scheduled to hit theaters in a year's time, excitement is building up on will go and how dangerous the new villain will be. Movie audiences may be horror-struck when the story of "the most powerful of any mutant villain" ever featured in the X-Men flicks -- as screenwriter Simon Kinberg described it -- unravels.
The "X-Men: Apocalypse" new villain is a sinister, potent character to be portrayed by Guatemalan actor Oscar Isaac. The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse are called Pestilence, War, Famine, and Death. The foe who wields colossal powers along with the Four Horsemen were presented in the closing scene of "X-Men: Days of Future Past."
Apocalypse's name, which is really En Sabah Nur, means "the first one" in reference to the those born with the mutant-X gene, and he considers himself a deity who reigns supreme.
To transform into the menacing villain who actually stirs to life in the 1980s, the actor had mentioned in interviews that he may go through the usual processes that include a head cast along with robotics.
Drawing much viewer interest is the fact that several popular actors and actresses will be reprising their roles, including Michael Fassbender as Magneto, James McAvoy as Charles Xavier, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, and Nicholas Hoult as Beast. The addition of "The Newsroom" actress Olivia Munn as Psylocke has also made headlines. Also joining "X-Men: Apocalypse" are new-generation A-list actors/actresses that include Kodi Smit-McPhee as Nightcrawler and Sophie Turner as Jean Grey.
Director Brian Singer is back at the helm of X-Men: Apocalypse. He devoted much attention to the superbad villain with shapeshifting molecules. The final part of the trilogy that began with "X-Men: First Class certainly packs a punch.
