Spider-man reboot casts "Ender's Game" star Asa Butterfield as Peter Parker? "Captain America: Civil War" debut expected

The big screen adventures of the popular webslinger continues with the much talked-about Spider-man reboot slated to hit theaters in the summer of 2017. Interestingly, Spidey won't be by his lonesome in battling villains in future flicks. Currently, they might have already chosen a cast for the film.

Before the Spider-man reboot that'll take off from the teenage years of Peter Parker, Spiderman will be having his Marvel cinematic debut on "Captain America: Civil War."

Superhero movie fans are wondering who will play the young, wisecracking Peter Parker. Among the top five choices are Asa Butterfield, who tackled the lead role in "Ender's Game," Tom Holland ("In the Heart of the Sea"), Nat Wolff ("The Fault in Our Stars"), Timothee Chalamet ("Interstellar") and Liam James ("The Killing").

Also igniting attention is a shortlist of directors who will be at the helm of the Spider-man reboot. There's buzz that Drew Goddard will be at the helm as far as writing and direction of the "Spider-Man" movie are concerned. If there's one thing that's been learned from the last Spiderman standalone movie, it's that competent talent alone won't suffice.

It will be recalled that "The Amazing Spiderman 2" had a rather disappointing box-office haul, prompting Sony to refocus and work double time to create renewed interest for its crucial franchise. The latest take on the web-climbing crime buster is that he'll be allowed to show his trademark wit & humor to the hilt. The Sony-Marvel collaboration is expected to yield some very exciting stuff, including fresh material for a new actor who will grow into the role of Spidey and who will cross over to the other worlds of superheroes.

Given the crossovers planned for major superhero characters nowadays, Spider-man's interaction with the Avengers may not have caught movie addicts by surprise. Nonetheless, it sure whets the appetite of the movie watching public always raring to see great character development and swashbuckling action.
