Ed Sheeran Confirms ‘Don’t’ Was About Ellie Goulding’s Cheating On Him With One Direction’s Niall Horan

"Photograph" singer Ed Sheeran recently confirmed that his "Don't" song was written about Ellie Goulding's cheating on him with One Direction member Niall Horan.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Sheeran was asked whether or not he regrets having let that information slip a year ago. The British singer clarified that he never let the story slip; rather, newspapers in England printed the story and claimed that he confirmed the report when in fact, he never did at that time.

"We got in touch, and they took the story down. But obviously the damage had already been done by that point because every other newspaper picked up on it. So I never actually confirmed it," he said.

Back in 2013, reports swirled that Sheeran and Goulding were dating each other. In fact, they were even spotted holding hands at the MTV Video Music Awards at that time. Shortly after, reports circulated that the two have already called it quits, according to E! News.

Now, two years after the cheating rumors have died down, Sheeran has finally confirmed the news. He also said that "Don't" was written with as much pain and anger because that was how he felt at that time.

"I had to be as honest as possible in that song because otherwise what's the f*cking point? There'd be no anger or pain in that song if it was just very sweet and nice. The whole reason people connected to it was because everyone's been that angry at one point..." he said.

Meanwhile, Sheeran and Horan are already over the cheating drama. The two buddies were recently spotted spending time together with the other members of One Direction and Taylor Swift, Metro UK noted.

Sheeran and Horan were also photographed in a series of shots shared by Austin Swift.

In one of the photos, Horan could be seen kissing Sheeran on the cheek.
