It was a shock for viewers when the savior Emma Swan sacrificed herself to save Regina in the fourth season's double episode finale of the fairy tale drama series "Once Upon a Time." Now that it's gearing up for season five, reports ardently claim that Emma will be the villain in the upcoming season. However, it is also believed that she will be saved by a new character named Merlin in the new season to premiere in September.
In the double episode finale of the fourth season of "Once Upon a Time" entitled "Operation Mongoose," Emma Swan (Jennifer Morrison) sacrificed herself to absorb the powers of the Dark One. Initially, the target is Regina, but Emma took her comrade's place. This is actually the doing of the Author (Patrick Fischler) by rewriting the story and turning the villains into heroes. Though, Henry Mills (Jared S. Gilmore) tried to save everyone by becoming the author himself.
Despite of Henry's interference, Emma Swan still fell in the arms of darkness. And now that she has the powers of a Dark One, reports claim that the season five will revolve around her. In specification, Emma's parents and her love interest Captain Killian "Hook" Jones (Colin O'Donoghue) will try to save her. The actress playing the savior, Jennifer Morrison, even gushed her excitement on Twitter. "#DarkSwan is coming!!! @OnceABC," Morrison wrote.
However, even when consequences have been eyed by doom, Zap2it reports that Emma will be saved from the onslaught of darkness by a new character named Merlin. The new addition is a legendary sorcerer and he is the key to evicting the darkness from the savior. The website also states that the fifth season will also focus on finding this Merlin. There have no further reports though on who will play the necromancer.
And if fans are excited to get it over with, the ABC TV show will most likely premiere on September 27, Sunday, speculates IB Times UK. It was explained that Season 4 premiered on September 28, season 3 aired on September 29, Season 2 debuted on September 30, and the first season on August 28. September 27th is also a plausible date considering the show's regular time slot is Sundays.
