Great news to Bloodborne fans, Sony has confirmed that they are working on a Bloodborne expansion and hints that more information will be released this year!
Shuhei Yoshida, President of Sony Computer Entertainment's World Wide Studios, took to Twitter Thursday to confirm that an expansion for the hugely popular role playing game Bloodborne is coming. The Sony boss even teased game fans when he tweeted "more info later this year".
Bloodborne was developed by From Software, a Japanese video game company who developed popular game titles such as Armored Core, Demon's Souls, Dark Souls, King's Field, Otogi, among others. The game is an action role playing game which is played in a third person view wherein gameplay is focused on weapons based combat and exploration.
Bloodborne was released on March 24 exclusively for Playstation 4 and is one of the best rated games of 2015. Critics have applauded the game saying how the game delivers an amazing and exhilarating journey for gamers. It's also no surprise that Sony is working on a Bloodborne expansion given how the game's sales exceeded expectations, selling more than one million copies worldwide as of early April.
Sony reportedly has been taken by surprise as to how popular Bloodborne is and the really strong sales figures for the PS4 exclusive game. Sony UK managing director Fergal Gara even commented that though they were expecting Bloodborne to do well, the game's massively financial success still surprised them. Gara shared how they initially referred to figures from the Soul series and thought that they could do better than that. They actually did and even exceeded expectations.
Gara also attributed Bloodborne's success to good timing since the game was released at a relatively slow time, having a very high quality title and a great platform differentiator for Sony. Even Bloodborne producer Masaaki Yamagiwa was amazed and grateful for the way the gaming community has embraced Bloodborne.
Gamers are looking forward to hearing more about the Bloodborne expansion for PS4. Game fans are hoping that more news will be released during the E3 conference scheduled next month or during Gamescom in August.
