Faith No More Drummer Mike Bordin Weirded Out About Re-Recording Drums on Ozzy Osbourne’s Albums; Band Releases ‘Sol Invictus’ LP After 18 Years

Drummer Mike Bordin from the rock band Faith No More must have been over "it" as he finally opened up about his contribution in the controversial 2002 re-recordings of the drum and bass parts on Ozzy Osbourne's solo albums. Meanwhile, Faith No More released their first album in 18 years entitled "Sol Invictus" this week.

As a brief background, Faith No More drummer Mike Bordin and Robert Trujillo (now in Metallica) have re-recorded the drum and bass parts for the 2002 reissue of Ozzy Osbourne's first two solo albums "Blizzard Of Ozz" in 1980 and "Diary Of A Madman" in 1981. Those parts were originally recorded by drummer Lee Kerslake and Bob Daisley, the co-founding members of Osbourne's band back then. Bordin agreed to do the bidding because he was a part of Osbourne's solo band from 1996 to 2010.

The controversial move was actually the result of a legal action between Kerslake-Daisley duo and Sharon Osbourne and management. According to Blabber Mouth, the duo sued Sharon and Ozzy Osbourn because of royalties. The songs were eventually restored for the 30th anniversary editions of Ozzy's aforementioned records.

Now, after over a decade of silence, Bordin recently spoke about what he truly felt about the issue. In an interview with Radio.com, the drummer expressed his petulance on what the management told him to do. "That was really kind of a fucked up thing... That wasn't what I was going in expecting to do [when I went into the studio to record those tracks]. So, that's all I'll say about it," he stressed. By that revelation, it looks like Bordin was "fooled" one way or the other.

"But when it turned out that that's what the reason was [for re-recording those tracks]... I never knew that ... That wasn't the way that it was presented to me at all. It was weird," he gushed. However, by getting out his pent up frustration, the drummer said that he isn't blaming anyone on what happened; he even said that it's weird. Bordin went on to praise the original guitar, bass, and drum tracks and all the more so, articulated his admiration.

Meanwhile, his band Faith No More has just released its first album in 18 years entitled "Sol Invictus" on May 18. As it was previously reported, the new LP is the band's long-awaited follow-up to their sixth studio record "Album Of The Year" in 1997. The new material incorporates some previously released tracks like "Motherfucker" and "Sunny Side Up."

Formed way back in 1981 at San Francisco, California, Faith No More consists of Mike Patton (vocals), Mike Bordin (drums), Roddy Bottum (keyboards), Bill Gould (bass), and Jon Hudson (guitar).
