George Romero’s ‘Empire of the Dead’: Newest Zombie TV Show To Air Soon; Will Have New Monsters Joining the Zombie Epidemic

By

There's a new Zombie TV Series to grace our screens. Geroge Romero's "Empire of the Dead" Comic Book Series will have its TV Rendition with a surprise monstrous addition: vampires!

George Romero has been gracing the big screen for several years with noted movies like "Night of the Living Dead" a successful film from the 1968. After which, he created "Dawn of the Dead" which was released back in 1978. The story depicted a group of human survivors that all hid in an abandoned mall, hiding from the zombies. This second film was then followed by the "Day of the Dead" which was produced in 985. The third movie told a story of a military project wherein soldiers were experimented by scientists to find a cure for the "zombie" epidemic. The fourth movie that Romero was able to share into the big screen was produced a little later during the year 2005. The movie was entitled "Land of the Dead." "Diary of the Dead" followed on 2007 and then "Survival of the Dead" in 2009. All of Romero's work catered to the zombies. However, this TV Show rendition of "Empire of the Dead" will have its own twists and turns that show its potential for doing better than the famous "The Walking Dead".

Being an original comic book series created by Romero himself, "Empire of the Dead" was first released in publications January of 2014, backed by Marvel Comics. Since then, it has released 15 issues for the series and will release its final issue on August this year.

"Empire of the Dead" will be produced, written and directed by George Romero along with Peter Grumwald as scriptwriter. The series will have Sam Engelbardt and William D. Johnson as co-executive producers and talents from the production financer Demarest will grace the show.

THE STORYLINE

The story features The Big Apple suffering from the epidemic of zombies, an event that led to the decrease in the human population within the city. Manhattan is highlighted as its quarantine area. However, despite how dreadful the situation is, the human characters in the show will face another threat to their very existence- vampires. The show will feature vampires battling with the zombies for survival. The vampires are running out of food supply due to the zombie epidemic, thus the seige for Manhattan begins.

Now that George Romero is adding something more to the usual zombie-themed TV Shows with the introduction of vampires in the "Empire of the Dead", are we to expect his creation might experience more success than that of "The Walking Dead"? Post your comments below.
