The fourth season finale of fairy tale drama series "Once Upon a Time" is nothing new anymore, and while fans are still reeling back from the shock, predictions on season five is already hitting the Web as it was recently speculated that Zelena will hold the dagger to manipulate the Dark Emma for revenge's sake. Meanwhile, another report claimed that a new character named Merlin will release the darkness from the Savior.
The double episode finale of the fourth season entitled "Operation Mongoose" of "Once Upon a Time" featured Emma Swan (Jennifer Morrison) sacrificing herself to absorb the powers of the Dark One to save her friend Regina Mills (Lana Parrilla), whom is the targeted in the first place. This is because the Author (Patrick Fischler) rewrote the story and turned the villains into heroes, and vice-versa. However, Henry Mills (Jared S. Gilmore) stepped up to save everyone by becoming the author himself
Unfortunately, his futile efforts didn't save Emma and in the end, the inevitable happened. And it looks like her role as a villain in the upcoming season will persist as IB Times India speculates that Zelena (Rebecca Mader) will manipulate the dagger to control the darkness of Emma. According to the website, Zelena will also ruin Regina's happy ending with Robin Hood (Colin O' Donoghue).
And since the villains Rumplestiltskin (Robert Carlyle) and Maleficent (Kristin Bauer van Straten) were already out of the darkness' path, Zelena is the only possible character who could do such thing. This just implies that Dark Emma might somehow last in the first quarter or even half of the new season. In fact, actor Josh Dallas (Prince Charming) recently revealed to Comic Book Resources that a new villain will emerge in the show. "The new big baddie is going to be really bad. It's the unimaginable. It's the worst thing that could possibly happen," the actor said.
However, in another "Once Upon a Time" prediction, it was previously reported by Venture Capital Post that a new character named Merlin might save Emma from the onslaught of darkness. Merlin is a legendary sorcerer and the key to dislodging the darkness from the savior. Most likely, the fifth season will focus in the quest for this necromancer. However, no further reports have been revealed on who might portray this character.
