Fans of "Once Upon A Time" were devastated to see Emma sacrifice herself in order to save Regina during last season's finale episode of the hit series.
With this, Emma Swan (Jennifer Morrison) became the new Dark One and fans are now wondering whether or not she will return as the town's savior in season 5, according to Christian Post.
Luckily, there have been reports that Emma will only become the villain for a short period of time. Additionally, she will also be saved by a new character named Merlin.
In an interview with Zap2It, "Once Upon A Time" series creators Adam Horowitz and Eddie Kitsis dished on Emma's future and who will help her revert back to her old self other than Merlin.
The publication asked the creators to describe what season 5 will be about in just one word and Kitsis said, "Swan."
Although he did not elaborate on what he meant, the publication noted that this could mean Emma will take center stage in the upcoming season. Meanwhile, as previously mentioned, Merlin will be responsible for bringing Emma back to her old self, but this does not mean the character will not face difficulties before he could do so, Carter Matt noted.
In season 5, there will be a major quest to find Merlin first. As of late, there have been no reports yet as to who will give life to the new character. Merlin will also be joined by Emma's son Henry, Robin Hood, Snow White and Regina.
Additionally, as for the theme of the fifth season, Horowitz revealed that the writers are still hiatus but have already discussed a possible direction for the upcoming instalment.
"We start with a theme we want to explore and go from there. We've done our mini-camp. We actually have next month so we like to sit for the next month and ask, 'Does it still hold true?'" he said.
"Once Upon A Time" season 5 will return to ABC this coming September.
