The countdown has started for the worldwide premiere of "Jurassic World" and fans can't wait for the new big, bad dinosaur in town - which will be bigger, louder, and will sport a re-growing set of teeth. It's called the Indominus Rex. Warning: "Jurassic World" spoilers below!
It looks like the famous T-Rex, but it has an amazing set of skills and an overflowing killing instinct. In fact, even the baby Indominus Rex doesn't have the time to be cutesy. After being fully developed, it instantly cracks its eggshell open using sharp claws and a pissed-off expression. This was shown in the movie's new clip montage.
As an adult, the 50-foot long, 18-foot high beast can move at 30 mph. Unlike other beasts in the movie, you won't see Indominus Rex in "dinosaur books" or museums - because it's a modern hybrid. Geneticists spliced together DNA strands from other animals to create it. He was made to become the star exhibit of the dinosaur-themed attraction.
Director Colin Trevorrow told "Entertainment Weekly" that the new predator is actually a metaphor for today's movie franchises. "The Indominus was meant to embody our worst tendencies. We're surrounded by wonder and yet, we want more. And we want it bigger, faster, louder, better," he revealed.
"Jurassic World" is the fourth installment in a highly lucrative franchise, and is scheduled to hit theaters on June 12. Chris Pratt stars as Owen Grady, the new main character, who plays a researcher into the behavior of velociraptors.
Another surprise to the fans, there are some dinosaurs which will actually help the human race. Owen Grady successfully trained four velociraptors named Blue, Charlie, Delta and Echo to follow his commands. As the movie progresses to Indominus Rex's wrath, the unusual team will be the key to saving mankind.
Also included in the cast is Bryce Dallas Howard as Claire Dearing, Vincent D'Onofrio as Vic Hoskins, and Irrfan Khan as Simon Masrani. Surprise cameos from the original stars of "Jurassic Park" will also happen. Hi
