Director James Gunn confirms that casting has already started for 'Guardians of the Galaxy 2'. Gunn also talked to a certain actor about playing a new member of the Guardians, but he remained tight-lipped about his identity.
Chris Pratt shared some details regarding 'Guardians of the Galaxy 2' wherein he got teary-eyed after Gunn shared parts of the script with him. In a recent interview with GQ, Pratt said "He just knows me too well to tell me too much."
The sequel is said to explore the details about Peter Quill's father, J'Son of Spartax. Part of the plot is to add two female characters to the mix. Marvel Studios has been very good at keeping details about the pre-production, but possible spacewomen characters include:
Mantis - also an actual Guardian who was born in an unknown village in Vietnam, her powers include telepathy with plants. Raised and trained by Kree priests, she knows martial arts and can survive in space. She is a prophesied mother of a celestial messiah.
Moondragon - Also a telepathic martial artist, her psionic powers include telepathy, mind control, personality alteration and illusion casting. She was raised and trained by Thanos's brother and some monks on the moon.
Phyla-Vell - an actual Guardian who belongs to an advanced militaristic alien race, also known as Kree. She has super-strength and energy powers. She is the daughter of the original Captain Marvel and Elysius. Sometimes goes by Quasar, or Martyr.
Angela - known as an attractive angel, Angela is the secret sister of Thor, but unaware of how she was created. She was born with all the Asgardian powers, but she used them for all her assassin work. She is also a cosmic bounty hunter.
Meanwhile, villain roles for 'Guardians of the Galaxy 2' might be given to Adam Warlock and Kovac. Rumor has it that Al Pacino might work with Gunn for the upcoming film. Yondu will also return as the father figure of Peter Quill.
'Guardians of the Galaxy 2' would be out in May 2017.
