Marvel fans are on the edge of their seats, as they await the next movie installment in the Marvel universe: Marvel's Ant Man. In Marvel's superhero lineup, Ant Man may not be as famous or well-known as Thor, Hulk, or Wolverine, but with the coming of this new movie, Ant Man may well become another of Marvel's superhero household names.
Paul Rudd will be starring in the film as Scott Lang, a master thief who must save his mentor Hank Pym, played by Michael Douglas. Hank Pym was the original Ant Man, and the inventor of the Ant Man suit, which has the ability to increase in strength as it shrinks in size.
The film's main antagonist will be played by Corey Stoll. Stoll will be playing the role of Daniel Cross, who is another protégé of Hank Pym. In the film, Cross will steal Pym's company, and use his technology to create his super villain identity: the Yellowjacket. Now, it must take two generations of superheroes to stop Cross; will they succeed?
The release of the film has been slated on July 17, and for a time, fans were worried that the film would not push through because of numerous problems during production. The film has already endured numerous script rewrites, a change of directors in the late stages of film production, changes in shooting location from the U.K. to the U.S., and difficulty in casting. However, in December 2014, shooting was finally wrapped up, and fans now have something to look forward to in July this year!
Long-time Marvel fans can also expect to see other familiar faces in the movie, such as S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Peggy Carter, who will be played by Hayley Atwell. Howard Stark will also be making an appearance in the film, although Ant Man's Howard Stark will be played by John Slattery, instead of Dominic Cooper, who played the role in "Captain America: the First Avenger". Disney's July release will be in 3D.
