Alex Winter has confirmed that Bill and Ted 3 is in the works. He also revealed that original cast Keanu Reeves will be in on the new adventure!
26 years later after the first adventure of Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure which was released in 1989, Alex Winter, one of the original cast of the franchise, has confirmed that a third installment of the greatest adventure we have ever seen in the big screen is in the works; Bill and Ted 3!
Winter also added that Keanu Reeves will be joining him on the third installment of the franchise. Everyone in the team are eager to push through with the upcoming movie and make it as great as the previous ones.
"We're producing it and we're actively trying to get it made," he said. "We're not tired of it, but I think for our fans, we are eager to stop talking about and actually shoot the damn thing."
Actor-director Winter even revealed a Bill and Ted 3 plot. He said in an interview, "[Bill & Ted] will be 40-something and it's all about Bill and Ted grown up, or not grown up," Winter tells us. "It's really sweet and really f---ing funny."
Though, Winter added that Bill & Ted 3 film will still be the same with Bill and Ted Excellent Adventure and Ted and Bill and Ted Bogus Journey. It will still have the elements the fans had all loved in the past movies but it won't feel like a reboot.
"There's many versions of ourselves in this movie," he continues. "[It's] answering the question: 'What happened to these guys?' They're supposed to have done all this stuff, they weren't the brightest bulbs on the tree, what happened 20 years later? To answer that question in a comedic way felt rich with possibility."
On the other hand The Matrix star Keanu Reeves teases the fans of the franchise revealing that the release date of Bill and Ted 3 is "We're a little closer. We're a little closer".
"There's now talk of contracts and maybe paying the writers to go and write. There might be some support for making the picture," he further explained.
There's still no definite release date but let's just hope that what Keanu is true to his words.
Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter's adventure as Bill and Ted in Bill and Ted 3 will be soon. Let's just wait for a little. Good things come to those people who wait after all.
