U.S. Cellular is rolling out Android 5.1 updates for the Motorola Moto X (2nd Gen) and Moto E LTE devices.
The Lollipop upgrade for the Moto X (2nd Gen) goes with a build version LPE23.32-21, while the Moto E LTE will have LPE23.29-15.
Users can expect the 5.1 update to bring in features such as:
1. Material Design that has a bold, colorful, and responsive user interaction (UI) design for an intuitive experience.
2. Better notifications settings that would allow device owners to make adjustments so that only certain people and notifs can get through.
3. New battery saver, offering power for the long haul as it would also enable users to see the estimated time left before the need to charge.
4. Guest user mode, allowing owners to share their devices. The upgrade can also enable users to create multiple accounts so that others can log in.
5. Screen pinning, which is set to keep a specific app or screen in view.
Before updating, owners should have their batteries charged at least 50% and connect to a Wi-Fi network. However, they could also do a manual update by doing the following:
1. Select the Setting Icon in the apps menu
2. Select "System updates"
3. Wait for the completion of the download
4. Once download is complete, select "Install now"
5. After the installation, the phone will restart automatically
Android 5.1 updates are also hitting Nvidia Shield Tablet, bringing various improvements and bug fixes such as enhanced security settings, enabled Global Tone Mapping feature, improved design, and quick settings menu.
