With the release date initially announced, the production team behind the "X-Men" spin-off movie "Gambit" are already keen to working as lead Channing Tatum recently revealed that the first draft of the script has just been finished. Meanwhile, speculations hit the Web lately that four famed directors have turned down Tatum's upcoming project.

The release date of "X-Men" spin-off film "Gambit" has been scheduled next year. And since the date is forthcoming, the studio must work fervently to catch up to the given date, lest, some delays will emerge. Recently, actor Channing Tatum, who plays Remy LeBeau/Gambit, has dished out some details regarding the status of his upcoming film.

In an interview with Empire Magazine, Tatum shared his affection for Fox's second to the most popular "X-Men" character. "I love Gambit," said the actor. "He always felt the most real of the X-Men to me. He's kind of a tortured soul and he's not a good guy. But he's not a bad guy, either. He walks his own path. And of course he plays cards and drinks and is a martial-arts badass," Tatum explained.

The "Magic Mike" actor went to reveal that the first draft of the script written by Josh Zetumer (Robocop) has just been turned in. The "Gambit" movie, according to him, is an origin story. And since this is a superhero film, he also admitted that they might make some changes a little bit, probably to add some novelty.

Meanwhile, while Tatum is so thrilled about the progress, it has been speculated that four of Hollywood's famed directors have turned down directing the film. According to Umberto Gonzalez (via Screen Rant), directors Bennett Miller (Foxcatcher) and Darren Aronofsky (Noah) were both offered to direct "Gambit," but neither of the two have closed the deal. In addition, the Meet the Movie Press podcast claims (via ScreenCrush) that Gareth Evans (The Raid: Redemption) and J.C. Chandor (A Most Violent Year) have also turned down the directorial gig.

Fox's "Gambit" is slated to release on October 7, 2016. It is believed that Tatum will first have his guest appearance in the "X-Men: Apocalypse," which is due on May 27, 2016.
