Successive leaks about the Microsoft Lumia 940 recently made rounds around the net, showing its specs and features with a 5.2-inch curved display, 2560 x 1440 resolution, Phone Continuum, and more.
Lumia 940 with curved display
Steve Hemmerstoffer of NowhereElse.fr reportedly posted a photo that allegedly showed a "unique bezel of an unreleased Windows Phone prototype." The photo was recently posted in his Twitter account revealing the bezel feature of having "significantly curved edges," which is said to be untypical for Microsoft's Windows Phone. Further, it was seen to be "strikingly similar" to Samsung's latest smartphone out in the market, the Galaxy S6 Edge.
Others recalled that Nokia was previously spotted experimenting on "slightly curved bezels," both in their unreleased prototypes and released devices. An example is the company's Lumia 1020 that did came out with "slightly curved 2.5D Gorilla Glass bezel." And referring to the photo, the display of this Windows Phone is expected to be curved. This is not the same with Lumia 1020, which came out with a "standard flat display and a bezel that simply wraps around the chassis of the device."
The prototype in the photo bears the "proto.nokia.com" website stamp at the bottom, implying that this device was developed before Microsoft acquired Nokia. No additional details about the sample smartphone could be added since this is the only information that the photo shows.
Lumia 940 specs and features
However, others said that the display allegedly belongs to the rumored Lumia 940, which was speculated to have a 5.2-inch screen. The Windows 10 Mobile flagship device was also spotted paying a visit at GFXBench, revealing a handful of specifications as well as its device version Nokia RM-1106.
The site confirmed its 5.2-inch display, but only has a 1920 x 1080 resolution. Still, NPU argues that "it is a crop and not the actual resolution that shows up" and really has 2560 x 1440 pixels. Furthermore, its processor is a hexa-core Snapdragon 808 with Adreno 430 GPU, 3 GB of RAM, 5 MP front camera, 20 MP rear camera with Pureview, and 32 GB of storage. Other features also include an accelerometer, compass, gyroscope, lightsensor, and NFC.
On top of these specs and features, Lumia 940 would be the first phone to use Windows 10's Phone Continuum, which transforms smartphones into productive desktops.
In view of these successive leaks, it points to a high tech Lumia 940 speculated to be released around July-August.
Readers should take these with a grain of salt as Microsoft is yet to release official statements.
