‘Shadowhunters’ Update: First Look at the Clave and the Pandemonium Scene; ABC Family Casts ‘Being Human’ Alum Jon Cor as Hodge Starkweather

The upcoming ABC Family TV series "Shadowhunters" will still air next year but as the production begins this week, fans are already charged up, and to add more excitement, the first looks of the governing body "Clave" and the first meeting of leads Jace and Clary in the Pandemonium club have been teased recently. Moreover, the "Being Human" alumnus Jon Cor has joined the cast as Hodge Starkweather.

ABC Family's new TV show "Shadowhunters" has been picked up to series by the network on March 30, 2015. The said TV show is based on the hit young adult series by Cassandra Clare and will serve as the reboot for 2013's action-adventure science fantasy film "The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones," which has been a failure and has received a negative response. The movie was led by Lily Collins and Jamie Campbell Bower.

And now that ABC Family has given it a chance, the mistakes of the movie version must be sorted out accordingly. The network has given a 2016 release date for the show, and as the production and cast has started filming last week, new images have surfaced in the Web. The first one is a sneak peak of the governing body of the shadow world "Clave." The promoters behind the show took to Instagram an image of the emblem of the "Clave" of the "Shadowhunters," also known as the "Nephilim."

In a separate Instagram photo by Kat McNamara, a first look of the Pandemonium scene has been revealed. For starters, the scene is where the leads Jace Herondale/Jace Wayland (Dominic Sherwood) and Clary Fray (Katherine McNamara) have first met. The said scene was also featured in the movie version.

Meanwhile, a new cast member has been added in the much-anticipated TV show. Jon Cor (Dark Matter) has been cast in a recurring role as Hodge Starkweather, Deadline reports. Cor's character is a weapons trainer at the "Shadowhunters" New York Institute and a former Circle member. With the said announcement, the fans of Cassandra Clare's series can't help expressing their excitement for the new addition. This is because the Hodge Starkweather in the movie version was played by an older actor Jared Harris. It has also been a surprise since the character in the book series is really an old-aged. This just implies that ABC must be specifically targeting its younger female audiences.

The "Shadowhunters" TV show follows 18-year-old Clary Fray, who finds out that she is a "Shadowhunter," or a human-angel hybrid who hunt down demons. When her mother Jocelyn (Maxim Roy) has been kidnapped, Clary embarks to the world of demon hunting with mysterious and narcissistic "Shadowhunter" Jace and her best friend Simon (Alberto Rosende).

Actor Jon Cor is an addition to the previously reported cast including the leads Katherine McNamara (Clary Fray) and Dominic Sherwood (Jace Wayland); Alberto Rosende (Simon) as Clary's best friend; Emeraude Toubia (Isabelle Lightwood), the beautiful and well-trained "Shadowhunter"; Matthew Daddario (Alec Lightwood), whom is actress Alexandra Daddario's brother; Jocelyn (Maxim Roy), Clary's mother; Isaiah Mustafa (Luke Garroway), Jocelyn's best friend and Clary's "uncle"; Alan Van Sprang (Valentine), the villain; and the "Glee" actor Harry Shum Jr. (Magnus Bane), the ancient and eccentric warlock.

"Shadowhunters" is produced by Ed Decter and McG, who will also direct the first episode. It is slated to release sometime in 2016.
