Contrary to earlier reports, Samsung Galaxy Note 5, the much-awaited successor to the Note 4 is not launching this July. No doubt, Samsung's Note 4, though largely unchallenged in the Android World, has certainly gotten some heavy competition from iOS Apple iPhone 6 Plus lately in the Big Phone Department. However, no less than the Korean Chaebol's President himself delivered the breaking news.
Samsung Mobile President J.K. Shin, dispelling all the rumors, stated that the flagship phablet is not coming by July as earlier reported but would most likely be unveiled by September. While this change of plans could be welcome news for some, it may appear to have doused the hoped of many who wanted the big phone to arrive earlier.
Speculations were rife that the South Korean tech behemoth, currently the global market leader in smartphone sales, would launch the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 earlier in light of key market intelligence that surfaced regarding Apple's movements. Market reports that reveal high yields in Apple's supply chain with regards to components pointed to the fast-tracking of the manufacturing for the next iPhone iteration.
Specifically, an early launch of the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 would have preempted the launching of the new flagship offering from the Cupertino-based tech titan, the iPhone 6S which is set in August, supposedly.
However, Samsung's top gun was not finished yet. President J. K. Shin proceeded to confirm that other flagship products, the twin smartphones, Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge particularly, are raking in spectacular sales results - contrary to what many may have reported earlier. To note, several nasty rumors detail how the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge was struggling in sales, taking a much longer time to hit the 10 million mark in unit sales compared to its predecessors - Samsung Galaxy S5 and Samsung Galaxy S4.
Samsung's next phablet is expected to carry:
- a 4K HD display,
- an Exynos chip made from its own manufacturing processes rather than the Snapdragon chip from Qualcomm,
- with possibly a curved screen version.
- Generous 4,100 mAh battery
- 7.9 mm body
Prices could start at $900 and up for the Samsung Galaxy Note 5.
