Google Developers recently shared in their YouTube channel how the native fingerprint support would work in their upcoming 2015 Google Nexus device, with Reddit users spotting a USB-C port. However, will fans jsut see a modified Nexus 5?

The video reveals two new APIs: fingerprint API and Confirm Credential.

The fingerprint API will:

  • Make payments/sign-in faster
  • Have complete UX/UI control
  • Authenticate users every time

While the Confirm Credential API would:

  • Utilize device lock screen
  • Define key timeout policy
  • Sync timeouts across apps

Further, Android M's native fingerprint support is going to be used greatly in Android Pay, a new mobile system implemented by Google.

The developers also assured that the two new APIs will offer convenience and security, in which there could a big possibly that the use of passwords would be eliminated.

Reddit users reportedly said that the device is the Nexus 5 and that they allegedly noticed that it has a USB-C connecting port. If this is the case, it would mean that fans could expect a 2015 Google LG Nexus 5 that charges very fast and transfers data quickly.

On top of that, it would have a 5.2-inch screen, 2700 mAh battery, and Snapdragon 808, which has the same hexa-core chip in the LG G4. Its codename was also said to be LG Bullhead, being developed together with Huawei Angler that has a 5.7-inch screen, Snapdragon 810, and a 3500 mAh battery. Both devices are definitely going to run the latest Android M.

When others saw the video, they said that it "looked like the Nexus 5 will be the same old Nexus 5 with additional fingerprint scanner only."

It is still uncertain if the Nexus 5 would be the same old device that Google released in 2013. It could also be possible that the phone was only used for presentation purposes.

As for its release date, both devices are estimated to roll out around September and October.

Google is yet to release official statements about their upcoming 2015 Google Nexus devices. Hence, readers should take these with a grain of salt.
