"Empire" season 2 will introduce a new character that could potentially be Cookie Lyon's (Taraji P. Henson) newest love interest.
According to Spoiler TV, actor Adam Rodriguez has been tapped to join the cast of the hit Fox series. The publication also confirmed that Rodriguez will play the role of Laz Delgado, a former New York City EMT. An insider from the series previously described Laz and said that he is a "smooth-talking concert producer with expert hustler skills," IBTimes reported.
Meanwhile, this is not the first time that Henson and Rodriguez will be working together. In the past, the two starred in Tyler Perry's "I Can Do Bad All By Myself." Rodriguez has also starred in other television shows including "CSI: Miami" and "The Night Shift."
As of late both actors have not yet reacted to the reports but there have been hints that Rodriguez will be joining "Empire" not only on one episode but on a series of recurring roles. Other than Rodriguez, other celebrities who have already been tapped to join the cast of "Empire" season 2 include Alicia Keys, Chris Rock, Oprah Winfrey and Common, Digital Spy UK noted.
Supermodel Naomi Campbell will also return to reprise her role as Camilla or Hakeem Lyon's love interest. Former child star Raven Symone will also return to play Jamal Lyon's ex-girlfriend.
"Empire" season 2 will consist of 18 episodes and the series will be divided into two periods. The first part of the series will feature nine episodes and it will air this coming fall. After a short hiatus, the series will return to air the rest of its nine more episodes.
Fans can expect even more drama surrounding the Lyon family and their empire in the sophomore season. Each of the characters is expected to deal with their own personal dramas and issues as well.
