Kermit, Miss Piggy and the rest of the gang is finally returning to television for the first time in almost two decades as ABC is set to reboot "The Muppets" this coming fall with an all-new "more adult" and office-style mockumentary presentation.
"The Muppets" may have been revamped and revived for several times now but it has never failed to amuse its viewers, regardless of their age. The show may have been off-air for nearly two decades but they are set to entertain again with their primetime comeback a few months from now.
However, it won't be the old "grandmother's Muppets" type of show anymore. As what ABC Entertainment' President Paul Lee described the forthcoming show, it will be a "more adult" version this time. Seattlepi reports that the network's reboot of the show will establish an office-type mockumentary arrangement with industry inside jokes and of course, a whole new different voices.
Hailing from the co-creator of "The Big Bang Theory", Bill Prady and Bob Kushell, Catermatt says that the premise for the new version will focus on the Muppets who will deal with their complicated lives, desires, relationships and other shenanigans as they prepare to make a hit television show.
According to Movie News Guide, the iconic characters of the show including Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Gonzo, Rowlf, Scooter, The Swedish Chef, Fozzie Bear, Sam the Eagle, Beaker, Rizzo, Dr. Honeydew Bunsen, Janice, Dr. Teeth, Floyd Pepper, Sweetums, and even Animal, will appear in the upcoming show. It will also feature other Muppets which probably made an appearance in other shows or movies. In fact, another lady pig Muppet is reportedly slated to be featured as well which will become Miss Piggy's competition for Kermit's affection.
The Muppets which was produced by puppeteer Jim Henson first debuted in 1974. After delighting audiences with its fun-filled presentations, more shows came up including "The Muppet Show" and "Muppet Tonight". A few movies were also released such as "The Muppet Treasure Island", "The Muppet Christimas Carol", and "The Muppets" and "The Muppets most Wanted".
Now for its nth revival, it is expected to outdo its past shows through integrating more humor and significance to its future episodes. However, this will only be determined once it starts airing on Tuesdays at 8/7c on ABC this fall.
