James Gunn, the director of the Guardians of the Galaxy 2 declared by this time that he had finished the story for the movie which is set to begin its shooting next year. He made it clear that the movie will center Star Lord's family conspiracy as his father will be revealed.
"There's a lot of stuff I'm excited about in the new movie. Listen, I'm still excited about Star Lord's character and where he goes. At its heart, Guardians is a story about families, and if the first film was about him and his mother, this is a story about fathers. So it's exciting to go there." James Gunn confessed in a Screenrant report.
Peter Quill, as Star Lord, adhered to his mother's issues when she died on the initial installment of the Guardians of the Galaxy. The second sequence of the movie franchise will converge upon his father when he enters the picture.
There's a speculation too, as reported by Movie Pilot, that Adam Warlock will be Star Lord's father, which makes sense because he became an indispensable part of the group that looks after the Infinity Stones and comes into straightforward clash with Thanos. It was Marvel's somewhat an implied way to set things up for the next installment when Yondu (Michael Rooker), made a hint about Quill's father at the end of the first movie.
Even if Quill's father is about to come out in the movie, James Gunn delineates that the adventure won't focus on the mere character. Star Lord will not be the only one with father issues in Guardians of the Galaxy 2. Scoundrels, Gamora (Zoe Zaldana) and Nebula (Karen Gillan), will always have dispute with their adoptive father, Thanos (Josh Brolin). At the same time, Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista) still recalls what was it like being a father that made him resentful to the Mad Titan as the boss of the alien (Ronan) who killed Drax's family.
Guardians of the Galaxy 2 will evidently offer some humor, which made the previous movie a big hit in the box office, but the father twist will give the sequel as much emotion than its earlier version.
