Marvel's Spider-Man Reboot Cast Update: Matthew McConaughey to play Green Goblin, Asa Butterfield tested to play Peter Parker?

By

There had been several choices as to who will take the director's chair, and who will play superhero and villain in the upcoming 2017 Sony and Marvel's Spiderman Reboot.

Oscar winner Matthew McConaughey is hot to play the famous Norman Osborn, known as the villainous Green Goblin. He has further revealed that he has talked about working with both Marvel and DC, but there has never been a specific role to fit for him.

The Green Goblin has not yet been confirmed nor it has been seen too very likely to happen. But if it were true, it would be a really good choice, besides no man has yet been said to play the role besides him. Not only that he's been a critically acclaimed actor, he has a truly wide range and is highly above par in acting.

More so, as Marvel's president Kevin Fiege is working for the production of the film, which is set on July 28, 2017, line of probable directors were Ted Melfi and Jonathan Levine, who directed St. Vincent and Warm Bodies respectively. Also John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein, the directors behind the upcoming National Lampoon film Vacation, are eyed. Jon Watts, from Clown and the upcoming Cop Car is also in the line. Jason Moore of Pitch Perfect and Jared Hess of Napoleon Dynamite were also called for vetting but seemed to didn't make the cut, even Drew Goddard who directed Cabin in the Woods. So the probability goes down with the first five.

It has been said that the Spidey in action will be looking like a 15-to-16-year-old Peter Parker, so actors with the likes of 'Hugo' star Asa Butterfield and 'The Impossible' star Tom Holland. In fact six young actors has been reported by CinemaBlend to have been tested for the role, including the two.

Among the six actors who were in the audition were Judah Lewis of Deliverance Creek, Matthew Lintz of The Crazies and What to Expect When You're Expecting, who will also be seen in the upcoming Pixels, Charlie Plummer of Boardwalk Empire, and Charlie Rowe from Red Band Society.

Marvel's Spiderman Reboot will make a debut appearance on Captain America: Civil War which will be released next year on May, so finding the right actor is very crucial right now. And until they find the perfect actor for the Spiderman, as it's only until next year that we shall see him first on the big screen, the Ender's Game star Butterfield is what the fans would want to see.
