Sister Wives heading back to court for another battle: States pushes anti-polygamy to protect women and children

By

Sister Wives reality TV show continues its fight for the legality of polygamy after the court withdraws the first decision to decriminalize plural marriage . The state is appealing to pass the anti-polygamy to protect women and children from abuse and prevent the cases of financial fraud and undermining marriage institution.

The court wants to protect the right of each women and children from a highly patriarchal relationship. The state is raising a point that polygamy can cause conflict in the self-interest of every person involves in this setting.

Polygamy has a complex structure as what we have seen from Meri and Kody Brown. First they decided to get marry legally and end it soon with divorce then chose to have a spiritual marriage again (quite complicated, right?) Many questions have been raised whether their spiritual marriage will last long than what we have expected. But the biggest question here is whether the four spiritual marriages can hold on together.

If ever the court will be able to finalize the appeal of the states, we don't know how Kody will work out the situation. Will he choose Robyn to be his last wife and proceed with monogamy, or will they continue to fight for their rights as a family.

The state is also referring to the emotional impact of polygamy to the children. In Sister Wives, Meri Brown has been oversharing Kody with the other wives and agreed on a divorce so that Kody can legally marry Robyn. So what happen to their children with this kind of setup?Utah state attorneys have been defending the state's anti-polygamy and in the case of the Sister Wives reality TV show, the state declares in the court documents, that monogamous marriage is an essential unit of the society since 1878.

Utah Federal Solicitor, Parker Douglas wrote that polygamy is not covered by the United States Constitution and therefore it does not support its fundamental right. But the Brown family attorney shows the healthy effect of such bond to the Browns.

As of now they will continue the airing of the Sister Wives TV series while solving the issue. As a response from one of the Browns, Meri Brown in her Twitter said "I am worth it. Worth love, worth honesty & truth, worth the fight & determination, worth laughs & smiles, worth true happiness."
