‘Transformers 5’ Update: Two New Writers Hired by Paramount; Shia Labeouf, Megan Fox to Return in the Fifth Installment?

Two new writers have been added by Paramount Pictures to the team who will scribe the script of the upcoming science fiction action film "Transformers 5" as well as the spin-offs and prequel. Meanwhile, it has been speculated that Shia Labeouf and Megan Fox are returning to the fifth installment of the popular franchise.

Paramount Pictures' writers team for the fifth "Transformers" movie "Transformers 5" have added new acclaimed scribes to help the progress of the franchise, ComingSoon.Net reports. The two new writers are both ladies including Christina Hodson and Lindsey Beer.

Hodson is known for her work in "The Eden Project" and "Shut In." She has also been tapped by Warner Bros. to write the script for "The Fugitive" remake. Conversely, Lindsey Beer's writing efforts is credited to the Disney family adventure "Dig," and she has been recently chosen to write the new version of WB's "The Wizard of Oz."

Both Hodson and Beer will be joining the previously reported writers who will pen the scripts of the "Transformers 5," a prequel, and some spin-offs. Debuting in summer 2017, Paramount Pictures hired Akiva Goldsman to lead a group of writers including Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari for the prequel "Transformers One," and Robert Kirkman (The Walking Dead), Art Marcum and Matt Holloway (Iron-Man), Zak Penn (Pacific Rim 2 and X-Men: The Last Stand) and Jeff Pickner of (Lost and Fringe) for the upcoming sequel.

Meanwhile, it has been reported that Shia Labeouf and Megan Fox will be returning for the fifth installment, Ecumenical News cites. With director Michael Bay speculated to be leaving, Fox is likely to appear in the movie.

Fox, who played Mikaela Banes, and Bay had a brief dispute causing Fox not being a part of the third movie "Transformers: The Dark Side of the Moon" in 2011. The two have patched things up when the actress starred in Bay's 2014 film "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles."

Actor Shia Labeouf was also rumored to be coming back in the fifth movie. His alleged comeback is yet to be confirmed by the producers. Bay's protégé, Jonathan Liebesman (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) is speculated to direct the next "Transformers" movie.
