Sawyer Fredericks finally has his debut album - or make that "The Voice" album. Though strictly speaking, it is not a string of original composition you would expect from the likes of an guitar-wielding Elton John or a piano-playing John Legend, but it has certainly made waves in its own right. Last look: over 10,000 copies sold.
As reported, 16-year old Sawyer Fredericks, winner of the Voice Season 8 and youngest winner in series history so far, has amassed electrifying album sales in the past weeks. His debut album, a compilation spanning Sawyer Frederick's successful eighth season "The Voice" snatched the eleventh-best selling new release for the third week of May 18-24 cornering 10,956 copies in that period alone to be exact.
It may not be as mind-blowing or as eye-popping as one from a multi-Grammy winner as Legend but it certainly has turned a lot of heads. For instance, Vis-à-vis Craig Wayne Boyd "The Voice" Season 7 winner, Sawyer Fredericks is above par, album sales-wise.
Sure, he may not have racked the best opening week sales figure for a "The Voice" compilation but it edges past that of Boyd's "Complete Season 7 Collection."
CWB's compilation was made available to the public during the holiday season, last December. However, it only managed to corner a measly 4,000 copies in its debut. With that numbers in, Sawyer Fredericks' sales would come out a lot better - to be specific, 175% better.
For the uninitiated, the singer-songwriter from Connecticut Sawyer Fredericks made four of four judges turn on the blind auditions in the eighth season of The Voice 2015. While Adam Levine, Christina Aguilera, Pharell Williams and Blake Shelton all wanted to be his mentor-coach, it was Pharell who got Frederick's nod.
From then forward, everything seemed to fall into the right places as not before long the guitar-lobbing blondie would soon set series iTunes on fire, breaking sales record.
It certainly has been an amazing journey for the kid who used to perform on open mics and community events in New York after his family transferred to the Big Apple.
His big win on the 19th of May earned him a spot on the Billboard Top Album Sales chart, in the #25 mark when his compilation was made available after his win. A lot of people are putting their bets on his original "Please" and a cover of "Old Man" which are expected to maintain their spots on the chart. From the looks of it, Sawyer Fredericks' doing great.
