Marvel and Sony have been creating a short list of people to direct and be part of the cast of an upcoming Spider-Man movie. This upcoming movie is set for release soon, but it's not just that, as rumors indicate that Spider-Man will be an addition to the MCU as a new member of the Avengers.
A Spider-Man reboot is just a couple of years away, as it is scheduled for a 2017 release, and with that, no wonder, Marvel and Sony has been starting to look into people who can direct and be the cast members of the film. The rumors about Asa Butterfield landing the role as Peter Parker is pretty persistent, although Marvel and Sony are also reportedly eyeing on other actors including Tom Holland, Nat Wolff, Timothee Chalamet, and Liam James.
For the director/s, Jonathan Levine who directed Warm Bodies, and Ted Melfi who directed St. Vincent, are said to be the strongest candidates as of the moment. But aside from them, other directors who complete the list are directors John Francis Dally and Jonathan Goldstein (Vacation), and Jon Watts (Cop Car) as they are also being considered for the film.
Meanwhile, actor Matth McConaughey admitted that he has read both Marvel and DC scripts, although he did not mention as to for which films they were, "I've read some Marvel and DC scripts and I've talked about working with them on some scripts, none of which I'll share with you what they are - or were. Yeah, I've circled some of those. Nothing has been right for me yet. But I'm sure open to it." the 'True Detective' actor said. He is rumored to be playing Norman Osborn, Spider-Man's goblin-like adversary.
But contrary to what many previously thought, rumors has it that the Spider-Man reboot will not just be about the web shooting hero saving lives, but also being part of the Avengers.
With the recent deal between Marvel Studios and Sony, the upcoming movie will reportedly be a debut of Peter Parker's inclusion in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
But how? Well, reports have it that the upcoming Spider-Man reboot will include Tony Stark aka Iron Man putting Spidey to a test to see if he's fit to be part of the Avengers. Looks like Spider-Man will make an appearance in another Marvel film as Robert Downey Jr. even teased about the possibility of Spider-Man appearing in Captain America: Civil War in his talk in a late night show.
Rumors about the movie's title also swirled around, as the title Spider-Man: The New Avenger is reportedly being considered by Marvel and Sony. The upcoming Spider-Man reboot is scheduled for release in 2017.
