Josh Duggar has allegedly molested girls, including his sisters when he was still a teenager. It was also believed that the patriarch of 19 Kids and Counting has full knowledge on the wrongdoings committed by his son.
According to ET online, there was an actual report stating that Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar were interviewed by the sheriff in the latter part of 2006. This was in relation to the allegations of sexual molestation against Josh.
Jim shared in the report that in 2002, Josh confessed that he was sneaking at his sister's rooms at night and touching their breasts and vaginal areas. There was also an instance wherein Josh touched the breasts of a family friend while she was sleeping on the couch. Jim acted on this by admitting Josh into a Christian Facility in Little Rock. Recently, Josh responded to the report in writing and stated "I acted inexcusably." After that, TLC pulled out the show as more sponsors cut off their ties as well.
According to NBC news, Josh's assaulted sisters already forgave him for what he did as a teen. They believe that he was just a little too curious. In fact, they were not fully aware that it was a sexual molestation not until their father explained it to them behind locked doors. After that, they forgave their brother but shared that their trust had to be rebuilt.
Meanwhile, a former homeschooler shared his views on what may have affected Josh's behavior as a teen. As Salon reported, the Duggars children are following Bill Gothard's Advance Training Institute (ATI) program. It is believed that the curriculum can be very damaging. For example, a lesson about sexual assault has contexts about victim-blaming. And these lessons are what the homeschooled children truly believe in. The curriculum has been a center of debate as there are subjects which are considered to teach extremes, to which the public don't agree with.
There is no certainty if 19 Kids and Counting will be back on air anytime soon.
