Samsung may not be the pioneer of the waterproof technology originally seen in Sony's Xperia Z's as a smartphone unit but this recent offering of Samsung, dubbed as the Samsung Galaxy S6 Active, as a variant to the Samsung Galaxy S6 is one most noted for its being waterproof and rugged designs as well as retaining old features liked about the previous units including improvements in some existing hardware features, a combination never before seen in any of the Samsung Galaxy flagship units.
Originally released in two variants namely, Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, the Samsung S6 flagship were a smartphone unit common to Samsung's releases - popular, standardized, up-to-date with available features and the trends, and even pricey - but the Samsung Galaxy S6 Active is an altogether new product that gets the best from its earlier variants plus the added features unique to itself.
From the inside, the Samsung Galaxy S6 Active is similar to its other variants, but on the outside, what you get is a unit so rugged and durable - a version as previously seen with Galaxy S4 and S5 - and one that is also waterproof. In addition to these notable changes, the Samsung Galaxy S6 Active unit now has retained its micro-SD expansion slot that was dropped for Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge units respectively, as well as a bigger battery capacity of 3,500 mAh as opposed to the 2,600 mAh seen in the earlier variants, as initially reported in TechRadar.
Exclusively for release only in the United States, the Samsung Galaxy S6 Active units will be made available via AT&T's physical retail stores and websites starting June 12, 2015 as cited by NDTV Gadgets.
To those who are interested in availing this coming flagship unit by Samsung may need to get hold of the item at AT&T on a monthly installment payment which ranges from $23 to $35. As to whether the availability of the same unit outside of the United States is a possibility or not is yet to be disclosed sometime in the future.
