"Empire" showrunner Danny Strong recently unveiled exciting spoilers about the Lyon family, specifically Lucious, Cookie, Andre, Jamal and Hakeem in the upcoming sophomore season.
While at the ATX Television Festival, Strong revealed that "Empire" season 2 will not be hyped up with so many twists. Rather, the upcoming installment will focus more on the Lyon family. In season 2, Strong said that fans will get to know more about the family's backstory.
Still, even though nothing big has been revealed as of yet, Strong and executive producer Wendy Calhoun revealed their most favorite forthcoming episodes from the season, according to IBTimes.
Strong said that he is most excited about the flashback because it will help piece together the lives of the Lyons.
"I'm excited about the flashbacks. It's an origin story for one of the characters," he said.
Calhoun also expressed her excitement over the flashback and said that she is looking forward to seeing Taraji P. Henson's fashion choices from back in the day. "Just to watch Cookie's hairstyles is enough for me," she added.
Meanwhile, new family dynamics between the Lyons will also take centerstage on season 2. Calhoun said that although they weren't able to focus on each of the characters, there will be a touching moment between Cookie (Henson) and Andre (Trai Byers) in episode 4, Latin Post noted.
Fans are now speculating that Cookie and Andre's storyline will focus more on the latter's battle with bipolar disorder.
In a previous interview with The Huffington Post, Byers revealed how challenging it really is to portray the role of someone suffering from bipolar disorder. He revealed that he watched videos and observed a family member who was suffering from the condition to make sure that he is doing it correctly.
