An EXO fan recently stirred panic in the online world when the said person who was revealed to be a Filipino posted a bomb threat to the upcoming BIGBANG concert that will take place on July 30 in the Philippines.
The fan tweeted calling out to all EXO-Ls (EXO's official fanbase) to not let the five members of BIGBANG out of the country alive. This has caused an uproar in social media especially to the fans of the would-be victims, VIPs, which immediately dispersed the post to bring awareness to the public.
The news has apparently reached the management of the K-Pop concerts in the Philippines and has started tracking the source of the post as it was determined to be a crime.
The massive response to the serious tweet has caused the account owner to apologize to VIPs and BIGBANG alike and even expressed their love for both EXO and BIGBANG.
The reason for the threat allegedly boils down from an online poll in which EXO has lost to BIGBANG.
EXO-Ls took turns in the headlines before too when the group's Korean fans allegedly commenced a petition in 2013 asking support from the public to exempt the members of the boy band from the two-year military service that all able male Koreans had to undergo.
This has left a negative image for EXO in the public since going to the army for Koreans means dedication and loyalty to South Korea, and also a precaution in case its relationship with North Korea worsens to the point of delving to war.
A Military Manpower Administration representative encouraged the celebrities to "directly express their thoughts on fulfilling military service themselves," so that "perhaps these immature thoughts of fan girls will die down a bit."
One of the more recent displays of EXO-Ls in the news took place when the said group flooded hate comments on Miss A member Suzy's Instagram account after she uploaded a screenshot that included an image of Melon Charts that had miss A's "Only You" at the topmost spot and EXO's "Call Me Baby" below it.
Many followers of EXO thought that the actress and singer degrades EXO's album which happened to be in the same promotional period as the girl group.
Interestingly, EXO member Chanyeol also posted a screenshot few days ago that has their repacked album songs up the chart with BIGBANG songs below and in between theirs. Fan girls then rushed to his side to defend the rapper.
EXO-Ls are undoubtedly one of the largest groups in the current K-Pop. Amidst the large following comes both positive and negative attention that is affecting EXO as a group and its members.
