New ABC series "Shadowhunters" Update: Cast Finished Filming First Episode, Characters Revealed

By

ABC has a new family series and it is called "Shadowhunters," which is an adaptation of "The Mortal Instruments." It has been reported that the pilot episode has already been filmed and that the cast has been revealed as the network racked the brains out of their huge fan base as they asked who they think the characters are.

"Shadowhunters" is said to be the next big series of ABC after the fan-favorite show "Pretty Little Liars" draws closer to the end. "Pretty Little Liars" is currently on it sixth season and it is expected that the series will be ending by the seventh season, Carter Matt reports.

The new series will be based on a cult teen fantasy that centers on Clary, a teenager living in NYC. However, she then learns that she is part of a family that includes half-angel warriors and they are known as the Shadow-hunters. These warriors actually protect the humanity from evil forces.

Clary's mother will be kidnapped as the story progresses and she will be joining a group of Shadow-hunters in an attempt to save her. Due to this, she will be bringing herself closer to her destiny, Movie Pilot shares.

The character of Clary will be played by Katherine McNamara, who will be part of the upcoming sequel of the movie "Maze Runner." She will star alongside Dominic Sherwood who will be playing the character named Jace. Jace is one of the main characters in the upcoming ABC series. Another is David Castro, who will be playing the character of Raphael, a former leader of a vampire group in NYC. Harry Shum Jr., the "Glee" alum, will be starring as Magnus.

The upcoming series already had a movie that came out in 2013 but it was not much of a box office hit. The movie was based on Casandra Clare's book series but fans of ABC should wait a little longer as it won't be hitting the T.V. screens until next year.
