Facebook says that "Doodle Draw Game" is the first true game available since the platform launched in April. The game basically lets users to send drawings to their friends, and the recipient will then have to guess what the drawing is. "Doodle Draw Game" suggests a few things for you to draw, which you then try to draw or doodle out with a limited set of colors and send to a friend. With the points that you earn, you can buy more colors.
A Facebook statement that was released said: "Currently, we think Messenger Platform is best-suited for apps that focus on content creation and curated content." Additionally, "But one of the reasons we were excited to announce at F8 that Messenger Platform is open to all developers is to see what people build. From there, we'll think about what else might make sense."
Introducing games into Facebook Messenger is a smart move as it increases the time that users spend on the app. Facebook clearly wants Messenger to be a compelling experience. This is quite a step for the Facebook Messenger platform.
The game marks a significant move for the Facebook Messenger platform, which previously only allowed apps for content creation and sound effects. It is expected that games will be more established on Messenger soon.
However, now that Facebook Messenger as a platform is open to such gaming programs, it can be noted that there can be a real risk. Facebook Messenger could become spam-central. "Doodle Draw Game" could easily encourage spamming actually, with users offered incentives to invite friends to play the game through being offered in-game currency for each friend that joins.
However, with the correct security and safety policies, these new games could be indeed a creative and fun new way for people to communicate using Facebook Messenger.
Messenger became a separate app last year, but for Facebook mobile users who wanted to message one another on Facebook, it was compulsory that they use the Messenger.
