Rumors have been spinning around the internet. It is said that famous director Michael Bay will be directing the anticipated movie adaptation of the Japanese animated television series entitled "Neon Genesis Evagelion." The anime was originally directed by Hideaki Anno. Michael Bay confirmed that the rumors are actually false and untrue.
It seems that the news that claimed Michael Bay will be directing the live-action adaptation of the Japanese animated television series "Neon Genesis Evagelion," or literally "Gospel of the New Century," is completely untrue. An unreliable Korean gossip site which cited a truly non-existing fan site called the "Transformers News Center" reported that the famous director Michael Bay, best known for his works such as the "Transformers" and "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles," was asked by journalists if he wanted to direct any other franchises. They also released a report stating that Michael Bay responded by saying "I don't know if you are familiar with 'Evangelion' but that's one movie that I want to direct".
This is not true. Michael Bay took to his official social media account to finally clear the rumor and posted: "#evangelion" rumor going around is not true. The Koreas gossip site did not even provide a link to their source. If you try to search around the internet for any fan site called the "Transformers News Center," you will only be led to car site and the false report.
However it is now clear that Michael Bay will not be directing the live-action adaptation of "Neon Genesis Evangelion."
The original Japanese anime TV show was written and directed by Hideaki Anno. It is an apocalyptic mecha anime which played for 26 episodes from 1995 to 1996. It tells of a story of a teenage pilot of a bio-mechanical fighting machine known as an Evagelion as he goes into combat with outrageous and monstrous creatures known as Angels.
