The finale of the tenth season shows that Pelant is dead and there's a copycat of him out there. Although, after the case got solved, a video of Pelant appeared saying that he is physically dead. But he is still present and there will be a "digital afterlife" that will keep him existent. Booth did not finish that video, got his things to leave, and hugged everyone for a goodbye.
The writers of the show actually decided to write it that way because at that they were writing season 10, there was no announcement or confirmation that Bones Season 11 is on the go. So, they decided to write it that way to give the audience a good ending they deserve in case the show wasn't renewed.
In order to continue from season 10 to season 11, it said that there will be a time jump for the next season. This is not the first the show has used this kind of tactic because this has been done on Season 5 to Season 6.
Executive Producer Stephen Nathan said in an interview that a lot of things can still happen in the next season: "How the hell do we get these two people back while being true to everything that made them leave? That's what will be interesting and surprising about the top of Season 11, and that's why doing these big moves is always so interesting to us and so much fun. It forces you to see the characters in a new way. It forces you to realize that there are expectations that always fall short of reality."
Fans also want to know who will take over Brennan's, portrays by Emily Deschanel, job. Will it be a new face or a familiar one? Stephen said in an interview that the answer will definitely be in Bones Season 11 but he remained mum if it will be a new face or a familiar one. Also, will Booth, portrays by David Boreanaz, and Brennan be back in Season 11?
"Everything is up in the air right now, to be honest," Nathan said in a report. "I don't want to say yes or no to anything. It's a big task to work them back and get them resolved again. We don't want to take the easy way out. You don't want to just go back to a well that's running dry."
A lot of new things could happen in the next season because of the closures they made in season 10. One of the possibility is the new person who will continue Pelant's legacy.
