Godzilla 2 is still part of the plans, although there are very few details released about the film as of now, Legendary Pictures reassured Godzilla fans that they will see the gigantic monster in the big screen a few years from now. Actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson said to be expected to reprise his role in the upcoming Godzilla film.
Although it may take time, Legendary Pictures reassured fans that they will get to see Godzilla 2 as soon as the movie's director, Gareth Edwards is finished with his current film. "Gareth's film making talent makes him one of his generation's most creative and visionary directors. The plan has always been for Gareth to direct a different film before we started on another 'Godzilla,' but who knew it would be a 'Star Wars' installment? We have a great plan in store for 'Godzilla' fans and I am looking forward to seeing Gareth's imprint on the 'Star Wars' universe." Legendary Pictures CEO, Thomas Tull said.
Meanwhile, regarding Godzilla 2's cast, actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson is expected to be back to reprise his role. In the 2014 Godzilla film, Johnson played the character of the nuclear weapon disarmament officer, Ford Brody. Johnson explained that he does not have enough details about the upcoming movie yet, "Our director, Gareth Edwards, is off shooting a Star Wars movie now, so I think, you know, and he was a huge influence on the franchise," he explained.
"So I think they're waiting on Gareth, and then when Gareth gets around, they will all jump in a room, brainstorm, and do their thing. And I don't know if I'd be a part of it, if it would be set somewhere else, if it's going to be in the future. ... It's just kind of, it's just so broad." Johnson added.
Although nothing has been released about the plot, or the cast yet, Godzilla 2 is believed to include 3 new monsters, Rodan, Ghidora, and Mothra. But unfortunately, there have been no announcements about Mechagodzilla yet.
More details about the movie are hoped to be revealed soon. Godzilla 2 is set to hit theaters in June 8, 2018.
